Now I would like to be practical and tell you a method of you how to dry figs at home :

Not only for its many health benefits but also for its delicious and sweet taste, so dried fruits are an ideal alternative to a snack that we eat instead of fatty sweets that contain a lot of calories.

In the beginning, we have to choose the figs that are very ripe, because they will be very sweet, which is what is required in the process of drying fruits and figs in particular.

After that, we wash the figs until we get rid of the dust and dirt that they are on, and then we prepare a pot in which we put an appropriate amount of water and leave it on high heat until the water boils well, on the other hand, we have to prepare another bowl containing water and ice.

Now we put each fig in boiling water for a period not exceeding 30 seconds, after that, we take it out and put it directly in cold water that contains ice, and this step is important so that the outer peel of the fig softens and dries faster. It is pointed out here, that if the figs we have are large in size, we have to cut them into small pieces, knowing that we can put them as they are in full size in the water, but cutting them will help them to ripen better.

After the hot and cold water phase is over, we have to prepare a clean tray of an appropriate size, and then put a thin and clean cloth on it, after that, we start spreading the figs on the piece of cloth, before covering the figs with another clean cloth as well, and with this second piece we close all the sides, so as not to infiltrate insects or dust enters the figs. Then we put the tray in a place exposed to the sun for a period of 3 days or more, and every evening we bring the tray into the kitchen so that the moisture does not spoil the figs.

In the end, we save the dried figs in a well-sealed container, so that the dried figs are ready to be served and eaten. It is worth noting that the dried figs can remain edible after keeping them in a container in the refrigerator for several months, and for 3 full years if we keep them in the freezer.
